Acute Fissure - A fissure that has developed recently, typically within a duration of less than one month, is considered an acute fissure. It usually heals with conservative treatment and does not require surgical intervention in most cases.

Chronic anal fissures - may require sphincterolysis (sphincter dilation surgery) along with Ayurvedic medicines, depending on the severity; this can be performed using Agnikarma (laser sphincterolysis), digital sphincterolysis, or sphincterolysis with a cataract knife, all of which help relax the sphincter muscle, providing pain relief during bowel movements within two days; these minimally invasive procedures are done under local anesthesia in a daycare setting, allowing patients to go home in 2 hours and resume normal activities the next day; Dr. Arulpathy Murugesan, our chief proctologist, pioneered this painless, bloodless technique and has trained many doctors nationwide, helping numerous patients avoid major surgery.
