White discharge, or leucorrhoea, refers to excessive vaginal discharge that may be thin, thick, or sticky, often caused by infection, hormonal imbalance, or poor hygiene.
Symptoms may include persistent white or yellowish discharge, itching or irritation, foul odor, backache, fatigue, and a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen.
Common causes include fungal or bacterial infections, poor personal hygiene, stress, anemia, hormonal imbalance, improper diet, and sexually transmitted infections.
In Ayurveda, white discharge is known as Shweta Pradara, mainly due to Kapha dosha imbalance, aggravated by weak digestion (Mandagni) and excessive buildup of toxins (Ama) in reproductive tissues.
Diagnosis involves physical examination, microscopic evaluation of the discharge, pH testing, and ruling out infections like candida, trichomonas, or bacterial vaginosis.
Avoid spicy, oily, fermented, and excessively sweet foods; consume light, digestible meals; include turmeric, amla, buttermilk, and coriander in the diet; maintain genital hygiene; and manage stress.
At Nalam Ayurveda, we treat white discharge through personalized detox therapies, herbal medications like Ashoka, Lodhra, and Shatavari, along with dietary corrections and lifestyle guidance to eliminate the root cause and prevent recurrence.
