What are Piles?

The term “piles” is commonly used in everyday language, while “hemorrhoids” is the proper medical term. Both refer to swollen and twisted blood vessels located in the anal canal.

There are two main types of hemorrhoids:

External hemorrhoids or external piles

Internal hemorrhoids or internal piles

External hemorrhoids develop under the skin around the anus and are usually painful, especially when irritated or swollen.

Internal hemorrhoids, on the other hand, form inside the rectum and are generally painless. However, they can become uncomfortable or painful if they prolapse (push out through the anus) and become strangulated.

Internal hemorrhoids are more common and are classified into four grades based on how much they prolapse and whether they go back in on their own or require manual reduction.

stage
01

In this stage there will not be any prolapse during defecation. Only feature found is painless bleeding.

stage
02

In this stage piles come out during defecation and they spontaneously reduce by its own. Many a times person won’t recognize this

stage
03

in this stage piles come out during defecation and won’t go in spontaneously. They need to be reduced manually.

stage
04

in this stage they come out during defecation and they remain outside even after the defecation. If this stage is neglected, results in strangulation (twisting of hemorrhoids) thrombosis (clotting of blood in hemorrhoid) and suppuration (infection)

How can we prevent Piles?

Piles can often be prevented — and even treated in their early stages — through natural, non-surgical methods. At our specialized centers in Chennai and Kuvathur, we offer advanced Ayurvedic care for all types and grades of piles.

For early-stage piles (Grade 1 and Grade 2), our clinically-proven Ayurvedic formulations help manage and resolve the condition without the need for surgery. When combined with lifestyle changes and dietary corrections, these treatments are highly effective in reversing symptoms and preventing progression.

For more advanced cases, we offer a range of safe, natural therapies. One of our signature approaches is KSHARKARMA — a specialized Ayurvedic procedure for treating hemorrhoids.

This technique was pioneered in Tamil Nadu by Dr. Arulpathy Murugesan, our chief proctologist, who has also trained several doctors across India in this method. With over 500 successful KSHARKARMA procedures performed at our centers, we take pride in helping patients recover naturally — without resorting to surgery.
